The movie stars Judd Nelson as a wealthy but unstable hermit who is convinced he will soon become insane much as his father did; his father actually did go insane and murdered Nelson's character's mother. He hires a private investigator (played by Vincent Spano) to look into his wife's possible motives for helping drive him insane. The wife, played by Jennifer O'Dell, is a sort of trophy wife; Nelson's character is certain that she is out to both drive him insane and rob him of his fortune.

"Nevermore" can be viewed as a gothic tale set in present-day Baltimore. By tracing the legend of Edgar Allan Poe, a famous American writer who lived in Baltimore between 1833 and 1835, the film explores Poe’s ghostly oeuvre in the popular imagination. It also depicts different communities and protagonists that are connected through Poe’s legacy, as well as the social divisions between them.

The evil Nevar threatens the peaceful existence of Raven`s childhood homeland, the island of Alaunus, when he captures the Enchanted Oak and begins to cut Staves of Power for his hooded demons. An exiled Raven enlists the help of his trusted friend, Princess Erina, and her sprite companion, Haryad, as well as the wise old astronomer, Cyrus. Together, they guide three teams of four young warriors who must overcome the challenges on the island and collect timepieces, which will be used with the coming solar eclipse to free the island from Nevar`s grip.
